God heals his children by His Word using faith, miracles, gifts of healing, confession, prayers and deliverance. He also heals his children by modern-day miracles brought through doctors and the medical community utilizing surgery. The most overlooked healing power God gave his children was created right into our bodies. He made our bodies to heal naturally and resist disease by a mechanism the medical community identifies as the immune system. The immune system is so miraculously complex that medical science is incapable of completely explaining how it works. It is made up primarily of a network of glands, specialized cells, biological and chemical reactions. This article is to inform you about your immune system, what weakens it and what strengthens it. We will talk about a common sense approach to empower your immune system to keep you well or heal your body utilizing the natural things God has provided in an interconnecting and all encompassing fashion.
The strength of your immune system is in direct proportion to whether your body will resist or succumb to cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis and all other diseases. When sickness takes over any part of your body, it is because your immune system has failed. This wearing down to the point of failure is usually a slow process over a period of years, until one day you have symptoms or receive a bad report from your doctor. Hopefully this article will give you new information and motivate you to make some choices to take care of your immune system so that your body will not give way to disease. If you are already ill or even facing a terminal disease, these simple but powerful life-style changes can restore and strengthen your immune system so that your body will heal.
In Microbiology Class 101 in 1971, this writer learned this scientifically proven truth: Whether a disease overtakes your body is dependent on three things.
- The strength, power, virulence or potency of the organism or substance attacking the body such as a virus, bacteria or toxic poison, etc.
- The amount or number of the virus, bacteria or toxic poison entering the body
- The strength and resilience of the human immune system to ward off the attack. A healthy strong resilient immune system will go far to resist the effects of both number one and number two. The American lifestyle is filled with risk factors that deplete our immune systems, rendering us susceptible to disease.
Building up and restoring your immune system is a process that requires knowledge, discernment, self-discipline and the making of new choices on your part. If you feel you have weaknesses in these areas don’t despair for your heavenly Father will give them to you if you cry out to Him with great perseverance and become proactive in the process. The more aggressive the program to strengthen the immune system, the faster it responds. Cancers the size of a fist have been known to gradually reduce and disappear over a period of about 18 months when the immune system has been rigorously rebuilt. This program is simple but not easy because it requires life style changes and effort on your part. Each and every part of this program as set forth is important. Leaving off any one part could jeopardize the results.
We Americans have a “quick fix” mentality that depends on pill popping for our health whether it be prescription drugs, over the counter medications or vitamin pills. We want our “fixes” to be easy and fast and certainly not upset our comfort zones in the way we live our lives. In part it is this very mindset that has caused our nation, the richest nation on earth, to fall prey to illness that has become so prevalent that we have become a nation of “sickies”. America has led and championed Christianity throughout the world for more than 200 years and the enemy, Satan, is trying to take us down by making us sick. He is winning this battle by primarily using confusion, industrial greed, deception, our own fleshly weaknesses and our lack of willingness to use common sense (wisdom) to address basic problems. Satan uses false advertising by companies that appeals to our own fleshly appetites. We have been badly deceived about what is good for us and what is not good for us. God is not the author of confusion, Satan tells us lies that confuse us. He is out to kill, steal and destroy you and everyone you love. Many times lack of knowledge both of His Word and the world He has given us to live in, makes us easy prey to the enemy’s deceptions.
America is the richest of all nations, yet we are the sickest of all industrialized nations. Obesity is rampant and sickness is prevalent. We are overfed yet undernourished. It is time that we wake up from our stupor and take control of our lives, our health and future. In order to do this, our lifestyles must be changed. Comfort zones must be ignored and even discarded, when it comes to preserving our health. For this to come about, we must have a clearer understanding of how we got to where we are presently. This program will introduce you to some common sense information and then lay out a simplistic plan of care. This seven point plan incorporates and utilizes what God has provided for all his children in the natural form, the way He created it before man tampered with it. Although much of this plan is not laid out in the Bible, we must remember that our God is in all that he created, including all of nature. He wants us to understand the things He gave us in the natural so that we can benefit by them. Man has not been a good steward of what God has given us and due to greed, many things that negatively affect our health have been presented as “good for us”, when they in fact are making us ill, both young and old alike. These deceptions crept upon us slowly over more than three generations and since they appeal to our fleshly desires and help us to remain in our “comfort zones”, we gladly accept them as true. Diseases seen as inherited or as having an inherited pre-deposition to certain diseases such as some cancers, diabetes, mental illnesses, certain skin diseases, etc., are caused by poor lifestyle choices learned from parents that are passed down from generation to generation. These poor lifestyle practices based on false beliefs, poor thought patterns, unbelief, lack of knowledge, lack of self-discipline and the propensity to follow after ones own fleshly desires regardless of the cost, are making America a sickly nation. Our immune systems have been bombarded and weakened by these choices. If we are to save ourselves, our families, our children and our nation, we must wake up! Then we must make some hard choices and make some changes in our lives.
God created all of us to have a close personal relationship with Him so that He can show us how much He loves us. We are to live our lives for His glory. If we are sickly or just plain lacking in energy we are unable to do that effectively. Did you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost? As such your body does not belong to you and your fleshly desires. As a born again believer, your body belongs to Jesus. Jesus, while on the cross, bought and paid for you, body, soul (mind, will and emotions) and spirit. Most of us act as though we do not know that or do not really believe that. Otherwise, we would take better care of our bodies, the physical house of the Holy Spirit.
Before starting the steps that lead to health there is one more thing that needs to be established in your thinking. There is a powerful “mind-body connection” between what your mind thinks, what your mouth confesses and how your body chemistry reacts.Your thinking and negative spoken words can make you sick even unto death. The most potent of these thoughts is ungodly fear that causes anxiety, fretting and worry. The second most potent is long term resentment toward anyone, including yourself and God. When resentment is in the heart it is always attached to roots of bitterness and anger that go deep into the body. When these exist your body cannot be at ease, there is always a tension that causes the body chemistry to get out of balance inviting disease and disaster. This tension is a form of stress. The Bible says that we must get rid of all bitterness (resentment). It also says that God will only forgive us to the degree that we forgive others.
Resentment, jealousy, envy and ungodly fear are all forms of stress that cause your body to produce stress hormones that over long-term can make you sick. Medical doctors will tell you that stress is the cause of most diseases. If you have long term resentment in your heart toward anyone, chronic fear, fretting and worry, envy and jealousy or recurring self pity, it is imperative that you get set free of these. Stop for a moment and confess these sins and ask God to forgive you. If you continue to struggle with these problems, call the church office for an appointment with someone anointed to teach you about these strongholds of wrong thinking. They will lovingly come along side you and pray you through this until all resentment is gone, until fear, fretting and worry subside, and peace takes over Healing of your body and emotions simply cannot take place if these are not dealt with first. That is why God’s Word says all of these are sinful disobedience in His sight. God knew what these sins would do to your body. God desires that you be radiantly healthy. He loves you so much He wants you set free so that you experience His joy and blissful peace. He also loves you so much he anointed people to show you how to get set free. Usually God anointed these people to perform this type ministry because they have been set free from these very same problems. We all sin and come short of His glory. He forgives us when we come before Him with a penitent heart and a desire to set things straight.
Do a mental check-up on your thinking. Are you unwilling to be in fellowship with anyone? How is your relationship with God? Do you trust Him, do you have an unholy fear of Him or blame Him for something? Are you able to forgive yourself? Do you have panic attacks, do you feel anxious, have problems sleeping? Do you fret and worry? If there is a problem in any of these areas your body will be stressed and your immune system will be under attack. If you find there is a breach in anyone of these areas don’t feel alone. These problems are rampant in today’s churches because people simply do not yet understand. If you have these feelings, you need anointed ministry help in the form of teaching and prayers. Don’t be timid and don’t let your pride stand in the way, ask for help. Your Father in Heaven loves you so much that He does not want you hurting from these problems. It is your responsibility and choice to reach out for help.
If you don’t have these problems, you are ready to move forward with this divine health plan. If you do have these problems, while you are seeking ministry help to overcome the above spiritual problems, you can concurrently begin the following program to rebuild and strengthen your immune system. There are seven steps to a healthy Holy Temple that all can benefit from even those who believe they are totally healthy. Each and every step is important, so please do not leave out any.
1. STRESS MANAGEMENT - Medical Science will tell you that diseases are caused by some sort of stress upon the body. Stress comes to the body from two sources: mental stressors and physical body stressors. Mental stress comes from fretting, worry, anxiety, fear, drivenness, perfectionism, unresolved anger and resentment to name a few. Physical stress comes from poor eating habits, lack of exercise, not enough sleep, poor hydration, overwork, exposure to toxic poisons plus much more. Christians have a great advantage in dealing with mental stress and His name is “Jesus”. Jesus tells us to “be anxious for nothing. Come to me and I will give you rest. My peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. My yoke is easy and my burden is light. Cast your cares on Me. Ask and it will be given.” The problem is many Christians have not made the effort to draw close enough to Him to believe His promises as written in the Bible. The answer to that problem is to read and study your Bible daily and pray, pray, pray! This builds your faith and trust in God. As you begin to read, ask God to bring your intellectual head knowledge about Him down into your heart. There is an anointing on God’s Word that will make miraculous changes in your life if you will put forth the effort and time to read and study His Word. Going to church is vital, but it is not enough. Pray daily and often, throughout the day. Pray for others, pray for your church, your pastors, your nation, your family and yourself. Start your prayers with praise of Him, expect your prayers to be answered. Petition Him for your needs. Confess to Him your sins daily. Ask Him to deliver you from hard testing. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring the Word you are reading into deep understanding that will propel you into action to receive the blessings He has ready and waiting for you. If you only have head knowledge of the Word this can cause you to have a false sense of security. The ability to quote scripture is wonderful but if this information does not reach the heart and change you to become more like Christ it really cannot bless you. Call out to your heavenly Father for your needs. Start to believe in your healing. Confess it, “I am healed in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth!” Through prayer and His Word, God wants to bring you into such close communion with Him that He has the opportunity to share His most intimate treasures of wisdom and understanding with you. These treasures are not easily accessible, you must seek after them persistently with heart felt prayer. (Prov. 8:17-19). You know to pray in your quiet time kneeling or sitting with the Lord, but you also need to learn to pray while driving your car, sweeping the floor, mowing the lawn, doing the laundry and cooking, etc. Use your heavenly language often and pray, pray, pray! Reading the Word and praying will bring you right into His sweet Presence.
Pursue a close personal relationship with Jesus above all else that you do. If you do not enjoy reading the Bible, ask God to give you a hunger for His Word. He will! If reading is difficult for you, the Bible is available on tape. You can listen to this while driving your car or at home. Become a thankful person. Thank God in all things, not for all things. If you have a negative attitude, often thinking negative thoughts, blaming self and others, ask God to give you an attitude adjustment. Ask him to bring joy into your life. Ask him for a healthy wholesome sense of humor that will encourage others and bring laughter into the world. The Bible says that a merry heart is good medicine. Lighten up and realize that God wants you to feel joy and peace at all times. Get very specific with God when you make requests. Yes, He can read your mind, but if you are more specific ordering food at a restaurant than when you speak to Him in prayer, He is definitely insulted. Stop asking him for material stuff and ask him for spiritual sustenance, faith, and strength. Become others-minded. Be benevolent toward others, do things for other people. Approach life with humility that grows from small unknown deeds of kindness to others. Guard your heart from evil by being very careful how you live, for the days are evil. Make certain you and your family are extremely careful about the television you watch. By the flick of a switch you are able to bring evil into your home in vivid color spoken loudly into your hearing. This violent evil can produce anxiety and fear. Husbands, you are the spiritual leaders in your home. Set a good example regarding the type of television watched and the amount of television watched. Provide a set of rules in order to keep violence and overt sex from polluting your family’s hearts and minds. Spend quality conversation time with your family. Study the Word together and pray together daily. Ask your children about their concerns at school or at home and pray over them, petitioning God to give them direction and favor. Ask God to send His angels to watch over your family day and night.
Church guard your tongues from gossip. When you judge another Christian in thought, word or deed you are coming against God’s anointed. Did you know that all your brothers and sisters in Christ, the church universal, the Pastors and even our elected heads of government are anointed by God? God’s Word says that we will not prosper (have health, prosperity, and peace) if we come against His anointed. Jesus taught that evil thoughts are just as sinful as evil deeds. Become aware that the way Satan attacks you is usually through your thoughts. Rebuke him, tell him to leave and he will flee!
Cry out to God to help you make life-style changes to please Him. When He helps you begin achieving these changes, shower Him with thanks, and Praise Him for giving you the strength required to change. Through prayer walk through problems holding onto His hand. Many times in life you will find that He is the only one there to hold on to.
2. SLEEP - Most people require 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep in order to be healthy. If you have missed sleep, plan to make up those hours by adding on an hour each night until caught up. If necessary wear room darkening eye coverings during day light hours. If you have a prolonged
sleep deficit, continue to do this to equal the amount of sleep lost, even if it takes months. Go to bed by 9:30 p.m. so that the first four hours of sleep will come before 2:00 a.m. There is a circadian rhythm built into human bodies that is activated by light and darkness triggered by sunrise and sunset. God planned it that way. The first four hours of sleep are the deepest and most healing (Rem sleep). Avoid things that stimulate your mind for two hours just before bedtime such as phone calls and news casts. Try not to eat a heavy meal after 6:00 p.m., because the digestive process can interfere with deep sleep. Spend 15 to 30 minutes in the early morning sun. A light snack one to two hours before bedtime may help. Exercise in the late afternoon. Reading the Word and meditating on things that are of good report and things that are lovely before bedtime can aid deep sleep. The need for sound uninterrupted sleep is vital to vibrant health and a prolonged sleep deficit creates many heath problems. Try to avoid sleeping pills and most over the counter sleep aids. If you are having difficulty getting into deep sound sleep, ask your doctor if Melatonin 1 mg. taken once or twice per week would be helpful. Avoid stimulants such as caffeine and alcoholic beverages. If you find yourself tossing and turning, turn to prayer, praying in your heavenly language until you fall asleep.
3. SUNSHINE - New studies indicate that Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent among Americans. Some researchers are convinced the government’s recommendations for adequate vitamin D intake are far below what your body needs. Those guidelines call for 200 IU a day up to age 50, and 400 IU from age 51 - 70, and 600 IU over age 70. Recent studies show that to achieve blood levels of vitamin D that can protect you against chronic diseases, you need an optimal dose of 1,000 IU of vitamin D a day. Not many foods in the American diet provide this essential vitamin leaving sun exposure on skin to be the major source. The problem with this is that many of us stay cooped up in buildings most of the time avoiding the heat, humidity or cold. Some avoid sun due to fear of cancer or wrinkles. A deficiency of vitamin D is believed to contribute to high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attacks, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, emotional swings and low energy, etc. Ask your doctor if it would be all right for you to put on a bathing suit and expose your skin to sun, without applying sunscreen, several times per week before 10:00 a.m. and after 4:00 p.m. About 15 to 30 minutes several times per week is probably sufficient if enough skin is exposed. If you have lived in sunny climates all your life or have had skin cancer or you are concerned about wrinkles, wear a hat to protect your face. In the southern hemisphere, avoid skin exposure to sun between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. due to the thinned out ozone layer that allows damaging UV rays to harm the immune system. Do wear UV protection sunglasses while in the sun. The darker your skin the more sun required to produce adequate amounts of vitamin D. African Americans may need supplementation. Consult a healthcare practitioner for supplementation recommendations. Recently, one young woman suffering from low energy and mood swings was tested by her doctor. The blood test revealed that her vitamin D level was dangerously low. The only sun she had received for months was on her face, lower arms and lower legs when she was out for about ten minutes 6 days a week picking up her mail. Her physician has been giving her large doses of Vitamin D each week. She started feeling better within two weeks. Her energy improved and the mood swings vanished. She feels well now although her blood level is still not at optimal levels and she has been treated for about 4 months. A child who stays indoors most of the time at school or at home sitting in front of a television or computer is at high health risk. It is estimated that children average about 40 hours per week in front of a television and/or a computer, this alone is enough to make children sickly. Parents if you want healthy children, you must guide them and set limits.
The amount of sun exposure needed for children and adults to prodruce adequate Vitamin D levels depends on skin pigmentation, the amount of clothing worn, latitude, time of day, season of the year, and the amount of smog blocking the sun’s rays. Babies who are nursing from mothers who are vitamin D deficient are at great risk to suffer from bowed leg bones called rickets and possibly other diseases. Rickets is on the rise again due to Vitamin D deficiency. African American babies are at greatest risk. Those living 40 degrees north latitude, north of Philadelphia or Denver, your body won’t make much vitamin D in the winter. By March your body may be very depleted if not supplementing. The sun isn’t all good. Too much exposure can translate into life threatening skin cancer. Just 15 to 30 minutes in a bathing suit on a sunny day several times a week should keep your Vitamin D levels at a safe level. If you sun until your skin becomes slightly red, it is estimated your body will produce equivalent of 10,000-25,000 IU of Vitamin D. Since vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin it is stored in the body. If you are taking a supplement that puts your daily intake at more than 2,000 IU, you can get a dangerous toxic overdose, which can possibly lead to kidney stones, kidney damage, muscle weakness, or excessive bleeding. Your body will not produce too much vitamin D from exposure to the sun. However, too much sun can put a strain on your immune system. Make sure you check with your doctor before supplementing or exposing your skin to sun especially if you are taking prescription medications.
4. EXERCISE - That which blesses the heart. Exercise causes the heart pump to work harder. This strengthens the heart muscle reducing the chance of heart attack and blockage of arteries. Exercise moves blood through the arteries and veins at a more rapid speed carrying vital nutrients and oxygen to every cell in the body, then returning waste products from the cells to the organs that excrete waste from the body such as the lungs and kidneys. Without exercise your body is a like an engine “putting” on two cylinders when it should be “putting” on four. Exercise strengthens muscles giving you a feeling of vitality and health. As exercise builds muscles these muscles burn fat helping to keep your weight normal. Exercise causes the blood calcium to work properly, allowing the bones to be replenished and rebuilt preventing osteoporosis which causes bones to fracture easily. Exercise improves sleep. Exercise reduces the harmful effects of stress released hormones. Exercise can produce a feeling of well being. The American lifestyle is very sedentary. We sit too much and this is shortening our lives by predisposing us to heart problems, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and much more. Plan ahead to walk, bicycle or swim. Work out with weight machines in a gym. Use a video in your living room that takes you through a set of exercises. It is vital to your health! Check with your physician before starting any new exercise program.
5. FRESH AIR - Indoor air in tightly sealed energy efficient houses and offices is contaminated unless it receives treatment. The pollution comes from positive ion build up called “positive ion poisoning” that happens as air passes over the air-conditioning ducts and coils, plus toxic gases emitted from cooking, carpeting (especially newer carpet), newly painted walls, newer mica furniture and cabinetry built with pressed fiber board, perfumed air fresheners, hair sprays, and toxic household cleaning products, etc. Fresh air that is unpolluted and highly oxygenated is essential to health. Trees and plants produce oxygen. Indoor house plants can help increase oxygen inside the house. Gaseous pollution also comes from copy machines and printers. Sushine charges the outdoor air with healthy negative ions as do thunderstorms and water falls. Negative ions give us a sense of well being improving energy and libido. The opposite is true with positive ion build up that is believed to cause tension, irritability, lethargy, headaches and insomnia. It becomes a stress upon the immune system especially the adrenal glands that help the human body deal with stress. We need health producing negative ions inside our houses and offices IN THE RIGHT AMOUNTS. We also need air that is not polluted by toxic gases. Many of us have cut ourselves off from this health benefit of fresh outdoor air by living indoors most of the time, avoiding the heat, cold, humidity, mold or pollen. Children are suffering greatly due to this lifestyle. They have given up playing active games outdoors. They now choose to huddle around computer games and televisions in closed up houses in polluted air. They need to learn the outdoor games of old such as hopscotch, hide and seek, tag, dodge ball, jump rope, etc. The lose of outdoor exercise during their early years brings on obesity and a host of health problems as they mature.
You can improve the quality of air indoors by bringing fresh air into your house. Leave a small window cracked open about 1/2 inch 24 hours a day while you are heating or air-conditioning. Or you can open two windows with cross ventilation once or twice a day for a few minutes, giving your house a breath of outdoor fresh air. 6. HYDRATION - Learn to enjoy water. Ask God to help you make water your favorite drink. Make sure it is pure, free of chemicals such as chlorine and flouride that is in most city water systems. Chlorine is an antiseptic that kills bacteria and viruses. The same chlorine that makes your city water fit to drink by killing bacteria, will also kill the normal necessary microbial flora in your colon that is essential for complete digestion of foods. Since your whole body is literally lubricated by water, this makes it necessary that you drink 5 - 8 glasses of water per day. Your joints will suffer if you do not drink enough water. Your body will retain waste products if you do not drink adequate fluids. One of the most damaging habits Americans have today is drinking carbonated drinks rather than water. Carbonated drinks have either large amounts of sugar in them or they are sweetened artificially. Too much ice tea is extremely hard on the body, since it contains tannic acid, which can cause kidney stones and other problems. Drink filtered water, fresh homemade fruit and vegetable juices and herbal teas. Avoid canned and bottled fruit juice due to the high sugar content and lack of live enzymes, etc. If you drink coffee or ice tea, try substituting with green tea, adding some fresh lemon for flavor.
7. BE WISE ABOUT WHAT GOES INTO YOUR BODY through your mouth and skin. The following will be presented in four separate parts: NUTRIENT SPARSE FOODS (Foods that weaken your immune system ). PRACTICE OF TEMPERANCE - ADDICTIONS - how to break them The wisdom and necessity of NUTRIENT DENSE FOODS (foods packed with essential nutrients for the body) and the wisdom of REDUCING HARMFUL SUBSTANCES that enter the body through the skin.
NUTRIENT SPARSE FOODS are foods that put weight on but provide little to build a healthy body and immune system. There are “five killer whites” that are believed to destroy the immune system. They are sugar, white flour, dairy (homogenized and pasteurized) milk, white fat of meat and salt. Most American diets are made up almost entirely of these products. This is a major attack on your immune system. According to research by the University of California Berkeley, the usual American diet derives nearly 25% of daily calories from soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and pastries, with salty snacks and fruit drinks adding another 5%. Fruits and vegetables account for only about 10%. If you do not believe this, watch at the check out counter of your grocery store. If your shopping cart contains this immune destroying stuff to any degree, you need to change your life style. The Department of Health for many years has recommended a MINIMUM of 5 servings of vegetables and fruits each day. One serving of fruit would be one banana, or one apple, or two plums, or a handful of grapes. A vegetable serving is about 1/2 cup. It is estimated that only 1 out of 7 Americans follow this advice. This is a major reason that sickness is so prevalent in America today.
SUGAR - creates physical problems in many ways. White sugar dulls the “natural” craving that God placed within you for fruits and vegetables. What has happened is that your own lustful desire for sweets plus the deception of food producers have turned your taste buds on to white sugary products so that you have lost your natural desire for healthy foods. Just 10 teaspoons of sugar (approximately that found in one soft drink) is believed to immobilize your immune system by about 33 percent. Now add to that one more soft drink, a donut, a cookie and a piece of candy throughout the day, you have your immune system shut down for many hours. It is believed that as little as 30 teaspoons of sugar will shut down your immune system for a whole day. Many of us are addicted to sugar. It is as addictive as alcohol or nicotine. If you don’t believe this try doing without it for several days. Refined sugar is changed from it’s original plant form into a highly concentrated substance that acts like a drug in your body. It can cause you to crave and eat more and more. Food manufacturers are aware of this craving, that is why refined sugar is found in almost every manufactured food item on your grocer’s shelf. This helps them reap great financial profits at the expense of your health. The food industry has taken advantage of our natural craving for fruits and given us a substitute that tastes better to us than raw fruit. Through lust of our flesh we have eagerly agreed with what is offered in the store as “good for us”. Look at the obesity around us, the worn out pancreas cells that gave up due to too much sugar allowing many to become diabetic. Remove the candy, cookies, pastries, carbonated drinks and canned fruit juices from your home and place bowls of fresh fruit in easy reach for your family. Keep carrot and celery sticks in your refrigerator for easy snacking. Ask God to help you retrain your taste buds. You will need His help, as this does not come easy.
How do you break a sugar addiction? It is no small matter. It can be an ongoing battle. After completely going off sugar cold turkey for about three weeks, you will get a taste for the Creators living foods, fresh raw fruits and vegetables. But then if you make the mistake of telling yourself you can have one little piece of candy, then bang you can be back in the clutches of sugar addiction. The only way to beat the enemy of sugar addiction is to totally avoid sugar, run from it like the plague it is. Your first line of defense is not putting it in your grocery basket at the supermarket. When it is available in your home or car in easy reach, in your weaker moments you will reach for it. Then the struggle begins all over again. The good news is, once off this killer stuff for several months you will not want sugary sweets most of the time. At this stage, fresh fruits and vegetables taste so much better than sugary treats that you prefer them. You will also feel better. But if you try a sugary treat once or twice, your sugar addiction has you in it’s mighty clutches again. When a sugar attack comes, eat a piece of dried fruit along with a small handful of raw nuts. This can be a healthier way to get you through this sweet attack. Try not to even let this be a common practice if you find you are sugar addicted. Ask God to help you go on a permanent sugar fast. Do this for the sake of your Holy Temple. To help curtail your desire for refined sugar, eat lots of fresh raw vegetables and fresh raw fruit. Drink freshly made vegetable and fruit juices and limit the amount of fat you eat. Fat tends to increase sugar cravings. Food addictions are not limited to sugar, fatty foods and salty foods can also be problematic.
Regarding artificial sweeteners, aspartame (Nutrasweet) in particular, the debate continues as to whether or not this widely used diet drink sweetener is harmful to the human body. This is a big money maker for the beverage and sweetener industries. Some believe this substance was pushed through FDA approval using guile and deception. Why would anyone put aspartame in their bodies with so much testimonial evidence that this sweetener is believed by many to create such symptoms as headaches, anxiety, heart palpitations and memory loss, to name a few. I encourage you to stop using both diet and regular carbonated beverages and switch to healthy clean water, freshly made fruit and vegetable juices and herbal teas. We know these are good for your Holy Temple , so spend your money for quality healthy drinks.
WHITE FLOUR - has had all the good substances (bran and germ) removed during processing. It is then sometimes bleached using a bleaching agent that is similar to Clorox. Finally it is enriched with manmade coal tar derived vitamins and sold to the unsuspecting as “good for you”. Eat whole grains only. If possible make them organic. The best breads are found in the freezer departments of health food stores. There are sprouted grains, spelt, multi-grains, brown rice bread, millet bread (light). Toast these breads lightly because they are kept frozen, removing only the pieces to be eaten immediately. It may take time to develop a taste for them. They are pricey but you will not need to eat much, they are so packed with nutrients. Organic rolled oats bought in bulk form at the health food store is a very economical whole grain. Dry organic multi whole grain cereals presweetened lightly by the manufacturer with cane juice or fruit juice are tasty and good for you. For further sweetening and variety add raisins, banana or fresh berries if you like along with Rice Dream - Original, or Silk Soy Milk - Plain in place of milk. Raisins contain trace minerals and antioxidants. They are great for snacks to satisfy a sweet hunger. Do not add additional sweetener. When bought in 32 ounce large plastic bags the organic cereals cost equal or less than non-organic cereals. The largest health food stores have the 32 oz bags. After opening the bag, store it in the freezer to keep the grains fresh.
DAIRY- We are told that milk is essential to provide calcium. The pasteurization and homogenization of milk is believed to change the calcium to an inorganic form, which cannot be assimilated by the body. Also milk today contains the same pesticides, growth hormones and antibiotics as animal flesh. To further complicate matters, many adults do not produce an enzyme in their digestive tracts called lactase that breaks the milk down into digestible form. Thus milk passes through your digestive tract not broken down properly, causing stress on your digestion. This can cause bloating, constipation or diarrhea. Both humans and animals are naturally weaned from mother’s milk, at an early age. We would do well to stay weaned. If you desire milk on cereal, try Rice Dream - Original or Silk Soy Plain. Choose the Plain variety to avoid excess sweeteners and artificial flavorings. Plant based diets provide adequate calcium if you eat adequate amounts of green leafy vegetables and unsalted raw nuts and seeds. Seeds and nuts can be ground to fine powder in a coffee grinder if you have diverticulitis. This powder tastes good served over cereals.
MEAT - contains white fat. The average American meat eater puts about 50 pounds of fat (cholesterol producing substance) into his or her body each year. Christians would do well to “kill the fatted calf “ so to speak only on very special occasions. Fat clogs arteries, causing heart attacks and strokes. The fat in meat plus a sedentary life style is the greatest cause of heart by-pass surgery. Anyone having this surgery that returns to their previous life style is inviting disaster within a few short years. The highest fat content is in pork followed by beef. If poultry is used, remove the skin and visible fat. Meat is thought to be a culprit in cancer of the colon, prostate and other forms of cancer. It is believed to contribute to gout and arthritis. Even a greater problem that comes with our meat is the contamination by pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones and antibiotics that are fed to cows, pigs and poultry. These collect in the meat that humans eat since the animals are eating large amounts of grain that contain pesticides and herbicides. Pesticides and herbicides are toxic to the human body. The EPA says that pesticides tend to collect in the fat part of meat. Antibiotics that are routinely given to animals have often become ineffective in killing bacterial infections. Part of that is due to overuse by patients running in to doctors for antibiotics with every sniffle and part of it is because meat eaters and milk drinkers are getting low level doses in their food on a regular basis. These low doses don’t kill the bacteria, it simply makes them resistant to treatment with antibiotics. Growth hormones are given to cows, pigs and poultry to fatten them quickly. When we eat their flesh, we get fattened quickly. So what are we to do? The Prophet, Daniel refused the rich foods from the king’s table, he was a vegetarian. He proved to be healthier than those who ate the rich foods the king wanted to force on him. God approves of both vegetarian and meat diets. If you choose to eat meats pay the increased price for organic meats, uncontaminated with pesticides, growth hormones and antibiotics. These are found at health food stores. The increased costs may help you make the choice to reduce the amount of artery clogging fat in your diet.
The good news is your body does not require nearly as much protein as the average American diet contains. Meat substitutes like beans, lentils, and whole grains can be better choices for much of what you eat. They do not contain the “white killer” fats of animal products, which we know for sure causes health problems. If you soak dry beans overnight and simmer them several hours, they are a delicious economical source of protein. Crockpots are great for slow simmering.
SALT - Table salt is made of sodium chloride, an inorganic sodium compound formed by the union of sodium and chlorine. Salt is known as a preservative and it has the properties that “draws out” from whatever it touches. Salt when eaten in excess is believed to be extremely toxic to the body. This toxicity causes the body to retain fluid in an effort to keep this protoplasmic poison in suspension and out of the cells. This fluid retention causes high blood pressure which places stress on the heart. The body needs sodium in an organic form, which it readily absorbed from many vegetables like celery. Potato chips, corn chips, pretzels and French fries are loaded with enough salt to be toxic.
This concludes the 5 killer whites that you need to pray about and ask God to direct you in all things. They are the nutrient sparse foods mentioned above. When you choose to eat these non-nutrient foods, they take up valuable space in your stomach that needs to be filled with nutrient dense foods, those foods that strengthen and empower your immune system.
NUTRIENT DENSE FOODS - The most nutrient dense foods are God given, heavy organic whole grains, seeds, raw unsalted nuts and fresh fruits and vegetables. Fresh vegetables and fruits need to be the foundation of your meals. They are best for you when eaten in raw form. Vegetables lightly stir fried or steamed still maintain much of their nutrient value. Boiling and cooking greatly reduces nutrient value but some remains and these will give you variety in your meals. Raw fruits and vegetables contain life giving, immune boosting natural vitamins and minerals, live enzymes and two substances identified as plant sterols and sterolins. Only recently have studies shown that plant sterols and sterolins are some of the best immune system boosters available. The problem is, this substance is bound to the fiber in fruits and vegetables. Using an electric juicer can release this substance making it readily available to be absorbed into the body. This substance can be bought in capsule form, but the theme of this whole paper is to use what God gave you in the form that He produced it. Why take a capsule when a glass of freshly made vegetable juice has to be superior. Vitamins and minerals in tablets and capsules can’t compete with the real fresh vegetables and fruits readily available to us all. Most of us have a “vegetable deficit” in that for many years we have not eaten the recommended MINIMUM of 5 servings a day. Juicing is the most effective way to catch up on a vegetable deficit. Freshly made juices give you a very concentrated nutrient packed food that has enzymes that dissolve and break down old toxic waste products that linger on the intestinal mucosa walls, toxic wastes that contain pesticides, heavy metals, antibiotics and putrefied foods caused by incomplete digestion. These toxic wastes can then pass out of the body. Along with the freshly made juice, eat an abundance of raw vegetables and fruits. The fiber in them acts as a broom, sweeping through the digestive tract keeping it clean. When toxic wastes accumulate in your body inflammation develops and stress is put on your liver and other excretory organs.

According to the EPA the best way to remove pesticides from fruits and vegetables is to wash them using friction under running water. Do not soak them. They recommend peeling of vegetables that can be peeled. Organic vegetables do not contain pesticides thus do not need to be peeled. They do need to be thoroughly washed under running water to remove any contaminant placed on them by human hands. According to the EPA pesticides may harm a developing child by blocking the absorption of important food nutrients necessary for growth and they may cause harm if a child’s excretory system is not fully developed since their bodies are unable to excrete these poisons. Take special care with your children, please.
It is recommended that adults drink fresh juices in 8 ounce servings. Any more than that can be a waste. An excellent basic recipe is one containing one half small Granny Smith apple, two leaves of red chard, or several leaves of romaine lettuce, or other deep green leafy vegetable, plus two to four large carrots. Organic carrots taste better but cost more. Buy carrots in 5 lb. bags for economy. If they are organic, do not peel them, just wash under running water with a vegetable brush and cut both tip ends off. Remove all dark spots or bruises from all vegetables and fruits before juicing. Make carrots and green leafy vegetables the foundation of your juicing. Run your washed vegetables through your juicer and drink the juice IMMEDIATELY. Wait a half hour before eating for better absorption of the sterols and sterolins. It is also advisable to either eat one piece of citrus per day or make a 4 to 8 ounce glass of fresh citrus juice. My juicer is set up and used first thing in the morning, used throughout the day then washed in the evening.
Some people may say juicing is not recommended in the Bible. Yet grapes were juiced in order to make wine. We know that God approves of using his plants to restore health. When King Hezekiah was dying from an inflammation that had sent toxic poisoning throughout his body (today we call that blood poisoning or sepsis), God instructed the King to make a cake or lump of figs (poultice) and put it on the inflamed area to draw out the poisoning. King Hezekiah did this and God gave him 15 more healthy years. God could have healed the King by simply saying “be healed”, but for some reason God chose to use a fruit.
There are multitudes of us who have learned the benefits of juicing. Along with juicing, I keep my meals simple by eating two large salads almost every day, made up of mixed dark green leafy vegetables along with bright colored vegetables. I serve one salad at lunch and one at supper. I avoid iceberg lettuce, since its’ pale color indicates few vitamins present. Along with these salads I eat one cooked entree of choice per meal. Dress your salad with a salad dressing containing an oil rich in Omega 3 fatty acids such as canola, sunflower, flax seed or olive oil. Avoid soybean oil, it contains little Omega 3 fatty acids. Because it is cheap, it is in practically every processed food in the store. Make sure you include broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower, either raw or cooked in your diet. These cruciferous vegetables are packed with nutrition. If you dislike these vegetables, ask God to give you a taste for them. If you really mean it, He will. Also, in season eat the bright and dark colored berries such as blueberries and strawberries. Red grapes are excellent for you. A fresh fruit salad can be eaten for snacks and deserts. If you are hungry before bedtime, make it a snack of fruit since fruit digests in about 30 minutes, or cereal. I encourage you to begin weaning yourself and your family off the “5 whites” discussed earlier. Folks, enjoy your food, but don’t allow it to take the place of your true comforter, the Holy Spirit. Eating to live is a good thing, but living to eat will destroy you. Food can become an idol. If you feel you cannot afford to juice, ask God to make provision. He may show you how to prioritize your present income.
Juicing can seem expensive, but compared to present or future medical bills, it is not. I would prefer to drive an older model car and live in a smaller home if this were required in order to feed my Holy Temple healthy foods. Without health, very little in life has meaning. Some are concerned about the pulp waste in juicing. You can use carrot pulp or fruit pulp to make muffins (sugar free, use a little honey). You can use it to thicken soup or it makes wonderful compost for your plants or garden. After you have implemented this plan for a few weeks ask your doctor to evaluate taking you off your prescription medications gradually.
The last thing to call to your attention is something overlooked by many, yet believed to have far reaching health consequences. You may not be aware of it, but your skin is like a sponge. Whatever you put on your skin, especially if the substance is liquid, your skin will absorb. One hundred percent of health care products found in drug stores and grocery stores contain chemicals that will be absorbed into your body. Chemicals will poison your body. The more you use, the more that is absorbed. Chemicals will weaken your immune system. From shampoo, hair conditioners, body gels, soaps, deodorants, shaving creams to most toothpaste, your body is getting bombarded by unhealthy chemicals. Go to the drug store and read the labels. Many of those names you can’t pronounce are chemicals your body does not need to absorb.
There are healthier products available at the health food stores, but not all personal care products found in health food stores are healthy. Ask a clerk to find some personal care products for you that have natural plant based ingredients. Ladies when using hair spray, buy the one that says “unscented”. Cover your face and skin with a towel, hold your breath, spray and walk away letting the mist settle. Your lungs do not need this stuff and you don’t need it on your skin.
Personal care baby products contain chemicals. Use a soap such as Pure-Castile Soap All-One Hemp Unscented Baby-Mild by Dr. Bronner found in Health Food Stores. The non-scented costs about $2.99 for a large bar. I recommend this soap for adults also. It has no chemical perfumes and is made with organic oils. Or you could use a glycerin soap called “Clearly Natural Glycerin Soap” found in some grocery stores. Buy the clear non-scented bar. This small bar costs about 69 cents. Search for baby products and personal care products that are safer for your whole family in health food stores. While there, search for non-toxic household cleaning products.
If some of you are scratching your heads and saying “This lady is paranoid”. I say to you “I choose to live as the wise, not as the unwise”. I make these choices from wisdom, experience and common sense, not from fear. Remember the amount of toxic substance entering your body greatly affects whether your body resists diseases of all kinds.
The Word of God says that one of the fruit of the Spirit is temperance which means “self control”. God wants us to live our lives using self control. Temperance is one of the various powers bestowed by God upon man. The right use demands the controlling power of the will under the operation of the Spirit of God. Divine health is for the disciplined (those with self control). What we learn must be put into action.
When I do without the 5 “white foods”, plus carbonated beverages, I do this as a disciplined ongoing fasting from these products, so that I can serve the Lord with energy and a healthy body until He takes me home. My doing without these are for His glory and honor. I started this program for my health benefits and now it has become more about Him. The health benefits have certainly blossomed forth, but the spiritual benefits of more prayer and a closer walk with Him have richly blessed me as I depend on Him for discipline and strength to remain free from immune destructive practices. Do I choose to come off this fast at times? Yes, for perhaps one meal now and then or an unusual celebration.
Here is another testimony about how this disciplined life brought about a miracle healing of life threatening cancer. A medical doctor, Lorraine Day, was working in a California hospital. Several years ago she developed breast cancer. Quitting her stressful job she started a program very similar to the one as outlined above. She became a strict vegetarian, refused to be hospitalized, refused chemotherapy and radiation believing these would further weaken her immune system. I viewed on video her breast cancer, which appeared to be about the size of a fist. She became so ill she could neither eat nor drink. She had her family drip vegetable juices and clean water into her colon using a tube to keep her fed and hydrated over a short period of time until she could eat and drink again. Gradually over a period of 18 months this cancer disappeared (as shown on video) and she became radiantly healthy again. She gives God the glory. She believes her program, if followed without leaving any steps out, can heal all diseases. To obtain her testimony and plan for wellness you may wish to order her videos by calling 800-556-4846. I do not suggest that you forego chemotherapy or radiation as Dr. Day chose to do, although I believe I would make the same choice. That is a personal choice. Pray about all things, then be led by the Holy Spirit.
If you have any life threatening disease, Dr. Day recommends ten 8 ounce glasses of vegetable juice plus one glass of citrus juice daily. On this program you will be drinking 8 ounces of vegetable juice about every hour through out the day and evening and drinking 8 ounces of water in between then eating small vegetarian meals. Drink the juice on an empty stomach and do not eat for at least a half hour. The green leafy vegetables of red chard, escarole, leaf lettuce or romaine lettuce should make up half with carrots and green Granny Smith apples making up the other half of the mixture. When you first begin juicing, detoxification of your body will start and this may cause you to feel flu like symptoms, which can become extremely uncomfortable, but it is a good sign. Should this occur simply temporarily decrease the amount of juicing until these symptoms subside, then gradually increase to the recommended amount based on your comfort level. She recommends that you become totally vegetarian throughout your healing process. Dr. Day found that large doses of vitamins caused her cancer to grow. For chronic illness such as the one I have dealt with, I drink about three, 8 ounce glasses of juice each day. Healthy adults could benefit from two, 8 ounce glasses, one of these should be citrus.
Don’t forget to read your Bible daily, feast upon God’s Word. Learn from the Word how very much He loves you and cares for you. Go to church regularly and if possible attend healing classes and other Bible study classes at your church. If you are sick, go to the altar and ask for healing prayers. Focus on God and use the good common sense He has given you to take care of your Holy Temple . Praise Him and thank Him daily. Pray for others and yourself and family. Rebuke and refuse to receive (believe) any death sentence or negative report your doctor or others place upon you. It is God’s will that you be healed. Focus on Him and not on your healing. Ask Him to reveal to you how to take care of your body. Never give up! Things can look and feel worse before they start getting better. Keep the faith!
To those of you who are well, thank Him. Start taking care of your Holy Temple so that you will stay well. Remember that your body belongs to Him for His glory and honor. A warning about prescription medications. If they are not absolutely essential such as insulin, ask your doctor to help you get off of them in a healthy way. Most only control your symptoms, they do not heal the cause of the problem, and many will create other symptoms through side affects. Do you recall those ads on television warning you that if you have liver disease, kidney disease etc. don’t take this particular medication? Guess what, that is because that advertised medication can damage those organs mentioned whether those organs are already damaged or not. These pharmaceutical ads are phrased to cause you to ask your doctor to prescribe them and to numb your good judgment. Pharmaceutical companies have no incentive to heal your body. Their job is to make money for their company stock-holders. Make certain you do not stop taking prescription medications without your doctor’s permission and then it must be gradual.
Those who are pregnant, nursing mothers, those with kidney failure and diabetics must not start this program as set forth without major alterations and without physician approval. Those taking medications may need to avoid sun. Talk to your doctor about this plan before implementing it. Do not expect him/her to read this whole paper. Give him/her the abbreviated seven-point plan that is attached as labeled “OUTLINE” so that he/she can make an informed decision. May God bless and keep you in all things, give you peace, health and prosperity. This is His promise, but I believe we must utilize wisdom, discernment, common sense and the information He has given us to live by in order to receive His on going blessings. The above is information He has given me to live my life by. I have been practicing this seven-point program for 10 months. After 13 years of being sick and almost bedridden during two separate, seven month periods during the past three years, I am feeling so much better and am functioning near normal levels for the first time in many years. Praise be to God!
I choose to press on with this disciplined seven-point program with great expectations for both spiritual enrichment and 100% total Holy Temple health. I am open to and believing in God’s instantaneous miraculous healing of all remaining symptoms, knowing that by living this disciplined life I will enjoy vibrant health until Jesus calls me home. God is GOOD!

OUTLINE FOR DIVINE HEALTH PLAN - A TEAR SHEET FOR YOUR PHYSICIAN
1. STRESS MANAGEMENT
a. Build faith and trust in God.
b. Deal with resentment bitterness, anger, fear, fretting, and worry utilizing spiritual concepts.
2. SLEEP
a. Arrange to have 7 - 9 hours sleep per day.
b. Exercise regularly and get early morning sun for 15 - 30 minutes.
c. Avoid stimulants, caffeine and mental stimulants such as violent television.
d. Avoid sleeping pills if possible.
e. If deep sleep is a problem, ask a physician if you can take 1 mg. of Melatonin once or twice per week.
3. VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY CAN MAKE YOU SICK
a. Ask a physician to test your blood level. Ask if you can tolerate sun bathing. Ask if you need supplementation.. If so, how much?
b. Ask a physician if you are taking a medication that makes you reactive to the sun.
4. EXERCISE
a. Get a physician’s recommendation of how much and what type.
5. FRESH AIR
a. Open up your house and let it air out periodically.
b. Evaluate the use of technology to clean the air in your house by using a negative ionizer and ultraviolet light air purifier, etc.
6. HYDRATION
a. Drink 5- 8 glasses of clean healthy fluids per day: filtered water, freshly made vegetable and fruit juices. Herbal teas, green tea.
b. Avoidance of carbonated drinks (sugar), diet drinks (aspartame), coffee & regular tea.
7. EAT NUTRIENT DENSE FOODS - AVOID NUTRIENT SPARSE FOODS.
a. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, raw is best.
b. Begin juicing vegetables along with some fruits. If you have cancer or any life threatening disease, drink 1 to 2 quarts per day. Diabetics and those with kidney failure must not use this plan without physician approval and close supervision.
c. Dramatically reduce or totally avoid products made with white flour, sugar, lots of salt, animal fat and dairy products.
d. Obtain protein and calcium from fresh nuts, a variety of green leafy vegetables, lentils, beans and whole grains. Greatly reduce or eliminate meats, due to the fat and pollutants in them such as pesticides, growth hormones and antibiotics.
